Sometimes you just have to clean out the closet, and start all over! Reorganizing an existing website is overwhelming, and creating a brand new one seems impossible. But, here I am starting a new site, staying true to who I am and what I love to shoot.
My digital makeover reminded me of a shoot I did with Ashley Benson, about a year ago for Glamour Magazine. The concept was to pare down, and weed out all of the unnecessary clothes and focus on buying a few new, better statement pieces from Shop-Hers. When I photographed Ashley at her house, she had already gone through the process of emptying out her closets with her personal stylist Jamie. Ashley was really welcoming, leading me upstairs to her very spacious bedroom, where there were at least 40 garbage bags filled with clothes on the floor. In her 2 story house, the best way to get the bags downstairs was to drop them from the second floor landing in the entry below. The huge pile of bags made for a great resting place, and the perfect spot for a photo op from above.
Creating my new website runs along the same lines as her closet clean out, that less is more. This site will focus on my commercial work, fine art and a little commerce thrown into the mix. I don't think I look as fabulous as Ashley Benson did, but I could have rested on just as many bags filled with digital images.
If you're looking to clean out your closets at home, you can always sell your pieces on a site like Poshmark, or donate them to a local charity like Ashley Benson did.
